Our history

In 2012 the Danish businessman, Karsten Ree, purchased a tourism camp in Kenya and turned it into a true ecofriendly camp initiating and supporting nature conservation projects and programs. The camp resides along the winding Mara River in the Mara North Conservancy. Mr. Ree supported ongoing projects as well as initiated other ones that benefited the local staff and community as well as the habitat of large number of wildlife species in the area.

In 2016, the Karen Blixen Camp Trust was granted its Certificate of Incorporation by the Kenyan government. The Trust is now responsible for all of the projects that previously were part of the Corporate Social Responsibility program of the Karen Blixen Camp. Most significantly, as part of the Certification, the trustees of Karen Blixen Camp Trust became responsible for all fundraising and management of current and future projects.
